Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Milne has taken the first step toward solidifying his campaign. On Wednesday, he tapped Brent Burns to be his campaign manager.
Burns has been the political director of the Vermont Republican State Committee since 2013 and has effectively run party operations. He helped to recruit House and Senate candidates for the 2014 election cycle. The Vermont GOP has hired Jeff Bartley to manage the party’s victory operations.
Burns graduated from Texas A&M University in 2006. In a four-year stint with the U.S. Army, he specialized in satellite communications systems.
Milne said that he interviewed three candidates for the position, and Burns was his top pick.
“Brent’s leadership, work ethic, and experience will be a great asset in building the team we need to run a competitive race,” he said.
Burns will make $5,000 a month through the campaign period.
Milne has not yet made a formal campaign announcement.
CORRECTION: Burns graduated from college in 2006 and began working for the Vermont GOP in 2013.
